AusCERT 2016 - Award Winners

Each year, at the AusCERT Conference, a number of individuals and organisations are recognised for their contributions to the Australian information security community. The AusCERT awards are judged by a panel of industry experts following a nomination process.

Individual Excellence in Information Security

The Individual Excellence in Information Security is presented to the individual who has provided a great contribution to information security in terms of their work in the areas of information security community service, innovation, education, liaison, law enforcement, governance or leadership. This year’s nominees were Troy Hunt, Wade Alcorn, Robert Winkel and Bill Caelli.

This year’s Individual Excellence in Information Security was awarded to Bill Caelli.

Organisational Excellence in Information Security

The Organisational Excellence in Information Security is presented to an organisation that provides a great contribution to information security in terms of their work in the areas of Information Security community service, innovation, education, liaison, law enforcement, governance or leadership. This year’s nominees were CenITex Security Operations Services, Macquarie Telecom Secure Operations Centre and Tenable Network Security.

This year’s Organisational Excellence in Information Security was awarded to Tenable Network Security.

Best Security Initiative

The Best Security Initiative award is presented to an individual or organisation who has developed solutions to security threats. This initiative will build trust and confidence in the online environment. This year’s nominees were Secure Code Warrior, Phriendly Phishing and IDCARE.

This years Best Security Initiative award went to IDCARE.

AusCERT Member of the Year

This award is presented to the AusCERT member organisation that fixed the largest percentage of vulnerabilities or incidents reported by AusCERT through our Member Security Incident notifications.

The AusCERT Member of Year was Monash University.
