Security Watch: LogRhythm Appoints Cyber Security Veteran James Carder as CISO

Former Mayo Clinic, Mandiant executive to lead global information security & LogRhythm Labs

LogRhythm Labs has appointed James Carder as its new chief information security officer (CISO) and vice president. Reporting to Chris Petersen, senior vice president of products, CTO and co-founder at LogRhythm, Carder will set the vision and direct the company’s global information security program.

Carder is a frequent speaker at industry events and noted author of several security publications, He joins LogRhythm with more than 17 years of experience in corporate security and consulting for Fortune 500 and government entities, managing large teams and customer relationships, and building service lines.

Prior to joining LogRhythm, Carder was the director of security informatics at Mayo Clinic and he also ran Mandiant’s Northeast field practice and New York City office, leading the company’s professional services and incident response engagements and managing Mandiant’s relationship with the FBI.

He has led criminal and national security-related investigations at the city, state and federal levels, including those involving Advanced Persistent Threats, attacks on large financial institutions and actions of well-known “hactivists.”
