ANZ businesses suffer 29 data-loss events every day: Check Point

Australia is the world's second largest host for malware and businesses in Australia and New Zealand experience 29 data loss events on an average day, according to the results of a recent survey conducted by security firm Check Point Software Technologies.

The company's 2014 Security Report – its second annual survey of the local information-security situation – found that Australia and New Zealand are the world's second highest hosts of malicious files and the fourth highest home to malicious Web sites: some 19 percent of the world's malicious files and 5 percent of the world's malware are spread across the two countries, according to the results.

The countries were led in the malicious Web site stakes by the 38 percent penetration in the United States, 25 percent in Ukraine, and 15 percent in Russia.
