Leading names from the UK defence and security industry will gather next month at the Cyber Security Scotland summit in Edinburgh to discuss how global threats are throwing up new challenges for the defence industry supply chain and procurement sector.
Hosted at RBS's global headquarters on 6 February by the Northern Defence Industries (NDI), the event will feature a range of speakers and business networking sessions covering topics ranging from the business side of defence as well as conceptual overviews on security threats.
Dell SecureWorks technology director Don Smith will present on Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs) while RBS's chief information officer Emma Smith will offer advice based on the bank's experience of coping with huge security challenges thrown up by contemporary cybersecurity.
A panel session will discuss the implications of all this for the UK's defence supply chain chaired by Thales cybersecurity director Peter Armstrong, with contributions from Lockheed Martin's MD Paul Weatherly, BAE Systems' head of strategy and architecture Malcolm Carrie, UK head of cybersecurity for CGI Andrew Rogoyski, and Cassidian UK CEO Michael Stephens.
Other participants will include Vic Leverett of Finmeccanica Selex on the Government's Defence Cyber Protection Partnership (DCPP) and Scottish Government cyber security integrator, Keith McDevitt.
"Cyber Security is a major risk to UK industry that cannot be ignored. An inadequate Information security system is one of the major global threats to businesses both large and small, and if not taken seriously can have devastating consequences for any supply chain," said David Townsley, executive director of organiser NDI.
"This event will provide companies with information needed to make an informed decision about how to protect themselves and also an opportunity for information security providers to demonstrate their skills and meet the right contacts to break into the cyber security supply chain market."

Cyber Security 2014 will be held at the Gogarburn Conference Centre (RBS Global Headquarters), Edinburgh on 6 February between 10am and 6pm.
