Former Boris Johnson deputy blames 'hacking' for naked 'selfies' on Facebook

Was it an iOS 7 bug that caused UK's version of 'Weinergate'?

Richard Barnes, the former deputy mayor of London, has claimed that his Facebook account was hacked after a series of nude self-portraits appeared on his personal page.

The photos, which show a man with a naked lower half holding an iPhone in front of a bedroom mirror, were loaded up onto Facebook and deleted, but not before websites such as trendingcentral.com screengrabbed the images.

The 65-year-old Conservative member for Hillingdon Borough Council told the Metro: "[It was] utterly and totally a mistake. I've been hacked into. I've no idea [what happened]. I'm annoyed and shaking with anger.

"I'm a 65-year-old gay man on his own...it's not the sort of thing I do. Do you really think I would be that f****** stupid after 30 years in politics."

While Barnes has blamed the incident on his Facebook account being hacked, there was speculation on trendingcentral.com that it may have actually been caused by a bug in Apple's new iOS 7, which causes photos on iPhones to be automatically uploaded to Facebook.

Barnes was London Mayor Boris Johnson's deputy between May 2008 and May 2012.
