October 17 marks the start of the two-day Australian IPv6 Summit, to be held in Melbourne. This year the event returns to the Sebel Hotel in Albert Park, with a speaker line-up that reads like a who’s who of networking industry in the APAC region. The event promises to continue the evangelisation of IPv6 — the next generation of Internet Protocol that ultimately we are eventually going to need whether we like it or not.
If past IPv6 Summits are anything to go by, then this year is a definite must on the calendar for anyone with an interest in networking. Previous summits have included technical sessions from the team at IPv6Now, including CSO contributor Karl Auer, who will also be attending this years event.
Other notable names speaking at the Summit include David Robertson from Telstra who have just announced their IPv6 for their enterprise, government and wholesale internet customers. Simon Hackett, a long time advocate, supporter and early IPv6 adopter from Internode, who are also the platinum sponsor will speak. Geoff Huston from APNIC is also presenting.
Other organisations that will be represented at the event include government departments and agencies, such as the Department of Finance, AGIMO and the ATO, through to vendors such as Sophos, Cisco and F5. Host associations again include the Australian Industry Group (AI Group).
Victoria once again deserves credit for being the host state and long-time visionary supporter of the summit. Our CSO team will be there as an event media partner along with representatives of Enex TestLab.
