Travelodge customers sent spam following security breach

Hotel chain is investigating security issue

Hotel firm Travelodge has revealed some of its customer email addresses have been accessed following an attack.

In an email to its customers, Travelodge said some web users registered to receive emails may have received a spam email about working form home.

"Our main priority is to ensure the security of our customers' data, which is why I wanted to make you aware that a small number of you may have received a spam email via the email address you have registered with us," the firm said in the email.

Travelodge said it had not "sold any customer data and no financial information has been compromised".

"The safety and security of your personal information is of the utmost importance to us," the firm added.

Full details of the security breach have yet to be released. The hotel chain revealed it is in the process of conducting a comprehensive investigation into the issue and advised any web users that received the spam email to simply delete it.
