ASEAN under attack: How can businesses strengthen cyber defences?

Once viewed as a global challenge – a distant danger unrelated to local markets – the sharp rise of data breaches across Southeast Asia has exposed a regional weakness in cyber security and data protection.

Backed by recent, very public incidents in Malaysia, Thailand and the SingHealth breach in Singapore, high-profile attacks have arrived in force on ASEAN shores, galvanised further by the outbreak of Covid-19.

According to CrowdStrike findings, 65 percent of business leaders in the APJ region are worried about a potential cyber-attack on their organisation in the next six months. Business leaders in Southeast Asia are shown to be more concerned about a potential cyber-attack on their organisation in the next six months than their regional counterparts. (Indonesia – 88 percent; Malaysia – 70 percent; Philippines – 65 percent; Singapore – 70 percent; Thailand – 81 percent).

This IDG webinar, in association with CrowdStrike, will outline the revised state of cyber security across Southeast Asia, delivered via an independent market update from Mark Iles, executive analyst of Tech Research Asia.

Key discussion points include:

  • Assessing the state of cyber security in Southeast Asia
  • Outlining revised business security priorities post-pandemic
  • Detailing emerging challenges in relation to rising threat levels
  • Assessing how CIOs / CSOs can build out effective security strategies
